COVID-19 has gotten in the way of many wedding plans, especially destination elopements. Travel bans and social distancing makes it difficult to get the people you love all in one place to celebrate your love. Eloping in Utah, Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia? It doesn’t matter where you’re traveling to, you can still make it extra special! Here’s some fun ideas to make your elopement even more memorable:
1. Have friends and family write you letters. You can open them together after your ceremony and take in all the love!
2. Exchange gifts with one another. Get each other a unique, special gift to exchange after the ceremony, something you two can hold onto forever.
3. Perform a unity ceremony, something unique to your relationship woven into your wedding that symbolically ties you two together. This could include lighting a candle, holding hands and speaking to one another, anything!
4. Do a family zoom call right before or right after you get married. Maybe you can ask them each to say a reason that they’re grateful for you and the family you are creating!
5. Have someone special ship you something borrowed. Keep the tradition going, but let someone special to you ship it to your destination! That way it will be a surprise.
6. Facetime your first dance! Call your parents or your best friends and let them be there virtually for your first dance.
